Paying your bills can be overwhelming, especially after losing a job or experiencing a medical emergency. If you’re having trouble paying your utility bill, several state and federal resources are available to help.
Energy Assistance Program
The Ben Davis Conservancy District has partnered with the Indiana Housing Authority and the Energy Assistance Program, (EAP). This program also allows you to apply for Gas or Electric assistance with winter bills. Water and Wastewater assistance is now offered through Indiana Housing Authority’s EAP. Applications may be submitted beginning on October 1, 2022, through May 16, 2023.
Low Income Household Water Assistance
The Low-Income Household Water Assistance is a new program funded by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. This temporary emergency program is designed to help low-income households pay their water and wastewater bills.
Wayne Trustee Resources
Trustees are elected officials in each township who help those in need. For example, your trustee may provide assistance for housing, utility bills, food, clothing, medical needs, burial expenses, or school supplies.
Community Action of Greater Indianapolis
The goal of the Community Action Agency in Marion County, Indiana, is to help people overcome financial hardship. This includes everything from emergency, short-term help to pay utility bills, or housing, food, education and employment resources.
